My Philosophy as a Therapist

I believe in the strength of the human spirit to continue to heal and grow regardless of how painful or challenging life has been. We can use any life experience as an opportunity for awakening and growth rather than victimization and stagnation.

 I believe that we are
always doing the best we can with what we have available to us at the time.  Sometimes we don't have much available, or sometimes we aren't aware of what's available.  Sometimes our "best" turns out to be harmful unfortunately.  But we are all just trying to survive, and fortunately we can learn new and healthier coping strategies.

I believe that there is a loving presence within every one of us.  However, sometimes our defenses make it difficult for others to see who we really are.  But just as a dark cloud may obscure the sun, that doesn't mean the sun isn't there.  Therapy isn't about "becoming the best person you can be."  Rather, this process is about peeling away the negative beliefs, feelings, and images you have of yourself, and discovering that this loving presence is the truth of who you are and has been there all along.

I believe that when people feel safe enough to be fully present, that deep healing can occur.  In order for therapy to be effective, it's necessary to have a safe and nurturing environment. I have learned from clients that the most healing things I can do is to embody compassion and listen from the heart in a completely non-judgmental way.

 I believe
that true happiness and peace arise naturally when we relate to ourselves and others with compassion. We are all connected, so when we lift up another, we are also lifted up ourselves. I have dedicated my life to helping others awaken and grow.
I am so grateful to my clients for all they have taught me, and am honored to be part of their healing journey.
